An 11-year-old boy was fatally shot in rural Westmoreland County Friday evening, a county dispatch supervisor said.
Someone called 911 around 6:50 p.m. to report that a boy had been shot in the head on Darlington Road in Ligonier Township. The caller sounded "hysterical," the supervisor said. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
Westmoreland County Coroner Kenneth A. Bacha was also dispatched to the scene.
Township police are investigating but could not be reached for comment Friday night.
