Two dogs who somehow became trapped on a ledge midway down a 75-foot embankment in Avalon this morning were rescued by firefighters who rappelled down the hillside.
The two dogs were hot, exhausted and scared from their two-hour experience on the hillside behind the Eat 'n Park on Ohio River Boulevard but suffered no injuries, said Avalon Animal Control Officer Lois Cummins.
The medium-sized dogs, which appear to be husky mixes, are currently at Spencer and Friends Animal Rescue because their owners are unknown. Should no one claim them within 48 hours, they will be put up for adoption.
Anyone with information about the animals is asked to call the rescue at 412-734-0810.
